Get Started
Interview Helpers is a stealth desktop overlay built for live tech interviews. This page walks through setup; the rest of the docs cover each feature in detail.
1. Install
Download the Windows installer and run it. The app launches as a transparent always-on-top overlay, hidden from the Windows taskbar. Sign in with the same account you used on this site.
2. Before the interview
- Pick your AI model. Settings → AI Model. GPT-5 and Claude Sonnet 4.6 are the standard tier; GPT-5.4 and Claude Opus 4.7 are the premium tier. Switch between them in one click.
- Position the window. Drag by the title bar, or use Ctrl + arrow keys. Window is clamped to the screen.
- Set transparency. Default is 60% opacity. Adjust the slider in Settings → General, or hit Ctrl+G to toggle.
- Familiarize with hotkeys. Full reference at /docs/hotkeys. The four you'll use in 95% of interviews are below.
3. The four hotkeys you'll actually use
| When | Press | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| LeetCode / coding question on screen | Ctrl1 | Captures your screen + sends to AI |
| System-design question on screen | CtrlShiftSthenCtrl1 | Toggle System Design mode, then send screenshot — get Mermaid diagrams in the answer |
| Interviewer asks a verbal theory question | CtrlShiftAthenCtrlShiftA | Start listening; press again to send the transcript and get a one-sentence answer |
| Need to clear the chat between rounds | Home | Resets the conversation |
4. Stealth tips
- The app is invisible to OS-level screen capture (Zoom, Teams, Meet, screenshots) at all times — your interviewer sees nothing during a screen-share.
- The window is hidden from the Windows taskbar. Use Ctrl+Shift+U to show/hide.
- Press Ctrl+G to drop the window to 40% opacity AND make it click-through — clicks pass to the IDE underneath.
